About Us

In 2017, our quirky founder, Latoya Andrée Kessie, embarks on a passionate pursuit—to collect cups. But here's the twist: her impressive cup collection stands at an astonishing number... 1. Yup, just one lonely cup. Why? Because she has her heart set on a kente cup, but her Google search leaves her utterly underwhelmed.

Undeterred, she comes up with a creative solution—why not create her own? But life has other ideas. The 9 to 5 grind, pesky credit card debt, an unexpected move to a new country, and then, bam, COVID-19 swipes her entire life savings. Life has its twist and turns.

Yet, in the face of adversity, our founder gets her humour and inspiration. "Who said cups couldn't be a business?" she chuckles. Taking a page from Bic, the pen masters, she decides to be the Bic of cups! And thus, Cuppashanti is born (again but in 2023). The real challenge lies ahead—finding a name as enchanting as her vision. *Cue the excitement*. Combining her frequent use of British slang with her father’s rich cultural heritage of the Ashanti tribe, a South Central Ghanaian ethnic group, behold—CUPPASHANTI! A name as unique as her dream cups, destined to make waves.

Cuppashanti has bigger dreams than just pretty designs and African heritage. We aim to be more than a cup company; we aspire to become a whole culture. Guided by the essence of CUPPACULTURE, Cuppashanti celebrates vibrant designs that showcase Africa (not just Ghana) as an artistic and cultural hub. African culture has sparked countless movements, and Cuppashanti is determined to reignite that creative flame.

Armed with a deep sense of purpose and unwavering dedication, Cuppashanti sets out to create a meaningful impact within the creative community. For every cup you buy, £1 goes towards our creative community fund, supporting talented artists in Africa and beyond. Our campaign imagery proudly features African and African diaspora talent, serving as a platform to showcase their extraordinary abilities. At Cuppashanti, making a difference is at the heart of our journey. We aren’t just about brightening beverages and shelves; we aim to uplift hearts and minds.

Embrace your Cuppa, join the party, and savour the vibrant spirit of African heritage and together, let's Sip the Culture.
